Cluster Athletics Championships
In 2012, as part of our Olympic Year celebrations, we held our Cluster Athletics Competition on the athletics track at the University of East Anglia. It proved to be highly successful and as a result we decided to make the trip to the UEA an annual event.
The children very much enjoy the opportunity to run on a circular track and to take part in a fuller range of field events (including long jump and javelin) during the course of the days activities.
This year the event was held on Tuesday 5th July 2015. As usual, the children competed to a high level and the spectators enjoyed watching a number of closely fought races and events.
Overall school standings were as follows:
In first place were Acle, with Fairhaven second and Freethorpe in third.
Fairhaven were first, with Freethorpe second and Acle third.
Overall results were Fairhaven first, Freethorpe second and Acle third.
The Cluster Athletics School Cup was awarded to Fairhaven who, as a result of Cluster Competitions throughout the year, also recieved the Janet Southgate Shield as the Cluster Sporting School of the year.
